Cellular 3G/4G and/or WiFi
Depending on how you work, you may want to change when/how the full-sized images are uploaded. Walkers have inbuilt 3G/4G Cellular connections to allow real-time uploads of full-size images, but sometimes WiFi might be the better option for you. You can easily configure how your Walker uploads images via the ELEMENTICE™ Console.
*Regardless of this setting, a Walker will always try to upload tiny thumbnail images to the ELEMENTICE™ Console which will hold the place of the full-sized images until they are uploaded – there is no cost for this.
Setting your Image Upload Method
Image Upload Method can only be changed when the device is turned on and connected to the Console.
With your Walker turned on, open the ELEMENTICE™ Console and click on the "Devices" tab on the top banner and select the relevant Walker.
You are now on the Device Page and can access the Device Settings section towards the bottom. Image Upload Method is one of the configurable settings under Device Settings. You can choose between WiFi + Cellular, WiFi only and do not upload.
Do not upload
If you are working in a location with no cellular (3G/4G) coverage and no onsite WiFi, you can save a significant amount of battery by turning off WiFi and 3G/4G. The trade-off being that no full sized images will be uploaded until you switch to one of the other image upload methods.
This setting will only allow full-sized image uploads via WiFi connection - this could be an onsite WiFi network for real-time uploads or your home/office network when you return from a job - you will need to enable WiFi and enter the WiFi network name and password in the Console while the Walker is online.
WiFi + Cellular
This option ensures the most instant uploads of full-sized images. Images will be uploaded in real-time via available WiFi as first option (you will need to enter the WiFi network name and password in the Console), or use the inbuilt 3G/4G cellular connection as a second option (no configuration needed).
*There is also a Manual Upload method which is available directly in the Console without using a Walker. More on that here.
