Hot Folders - the key to selling prints onsite during an event
Real-Time photo delivery is great, but some of our Members also want to deliver Real-Time physical prints without all the cables and tether problems. Currently you'll need to handle your own payments manually, but the printing side of things is actually easier than you might think - by using "hot folders" on laptop with the printer connected.
Using DNP Hot Folder (or another brand/3rd party equivalent software), you can tell an onsite laptop to 'watch' a specific folder and then when it sees and image file, it immediately sends the image to the printer. We set the location of the hot folder to be the 'downloads' folder of the laptop. The attendant takes payment and then locates the desired image in the event/attendee gallery and downloads the image...
A) If you want to print images with the watermark on them, up to 6"x4" max: download the image using the green "small" download button in the admin gallery view.
B) If you want to print the images without a watermark and/or larger than 6"x4": use the "large" download button in the admin gallery view.
The default location for the images to be sent is the downloads folder, which is why we made this the hot folder. Once the image is downloaded to the hot folder, it will automatically be sent to the printer where it can be collected and delivered to the customer.
We do have a proof of concept that allows customers to seamlessly choose their own image to print and take payments via Stripe - all from their personal ELEMENTICE™ gallery. If you would really love that feature brought to production level, please contact us and register your interest.
