Knowing your battery level
The Walker does not have a display of its' own, but the connected Reader displays the battery level of itself (R) and the Walker (W) it is paired to, in the top right corner of it's screen.
You can also see the battery level of all online devices on the ELEMENTICE™ Console, including at the Device Page.
Keeping you device's battery healthy can extend the life your device significantly. Using under-powered USB ports and/or leaving the batteries flat can actually do damage to the batteries in your devices. We want your ELEMENTICE™ Devices to be at the top of their game for as long as possible, so here are some things to be aware of:
Our devices are compatible with Fast Charging so when the battery on your device gets low, it will try to pull more power through. If you are using a single port USB chargers, you want it to be rated to 12W (that is equal to 5V @ 2.4A). That means the USB port on your laptop or that 5W apple wallcharger isn't going to be giving our devices enough juice.
If you are using a multi-port charger, be aware that just because there are more than 12Watts of total power, it doesn't mean that every port is going to be able to give enough power. The magic number you are looking for on each port is 2.4A (or more).
None of this is to say you can't use a lower rated charger or USB port if you need to. It's just, that using under powered chargers shouldn't be where you charge your devices as standard operating procedure.
If this is all getting too much, just head to our online shop where we have wall chargers and battery power banks which we've hand picked ourselves.
Our devices are compatible with Fast Charging. Using a fast charger (as described above), a Walker would charge to 50% in 30-40 minutes and 100% in around 90 minutes. Using a standard charger approximately doubles these times. Using your laptop which goes to sleep after ten minutes will not actually charge your device.
*If the device battery was completely depleted on last use or the device was left off charge for an extended period, battery protection will have kicked in and you will need to charge the device to 100% before it will turn on again.
To ensure the ongoing health of your device's battery, each of your ELEMENTICE™ devices should be fully charged at least once every two weeks.
Charging while in use
Yes. You can use a battery bank or power source to charge your device while it is in use. Just remember the same rules as above about how much power the USB port needs to be able to supply. If in doubt, you can always use our official 5,000mAh battery bank and battery holder avilable at the ELEMENTICE™ store.
Charging Indicator & Warning lights
When you plug in the USB cable to your device, you will see that there is one green and one red light which shine out from the USB port of the ELEMENTICE™ Device. A solid red light indicates that the device is currently charging. If that red light is flashing, it means it is not charging. Perhaps because it can't draw enough power through due to a damaged cord or underpowered power source on the other end.
When the device is finished charging, the red light will go out and the green light will stay on. You can double check that it is fully charged by turning it on and checking either the ELEMENTICE™ Console or the screen of a connected Reader.
